OUR PASTOR’S HEART
Are we to love our salvation more than our God? On our recent missions trip to Toronto, we experienced a lot of celebration. The unique thing about my people, the Assyrians, is that they look for any reason to celebrate something good. After the salvation of some students and the rededication of others, they began to dance.
My question to them was are you celebrating your salvation or the God who gave you that? It might be an unfair question, but we must direct our praise and adoration to the one who is worthy to receive.
I waited patiently for the Lord and He heard my cry. He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay. He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Psalm 40:1-3
We must celebrate the giver of the benefit not the benefit. We honor the source of the living water. We worship “The God who is mighty to save.” Rejoice in the giver not the gift.
FATHER, we want to celebrate and rejoice in you alone. Amen
